Tourist Trap Chronicles - Prague's Museum of Alchemy
While Prague is nowadays full of tourists, there was a time when the city was full of visitors of a more esoteric nature.
* How can one NOT get intrigued by this shrouded figure by the Museum's entrance!
* A very good summary of all the exotic things found therein!
* Back in 1576, the Holy Roman Emperor, Rudolf II, chose Prague to be his home.
* What he did afterwards was to welcome magicians, alchemists, astrologers, artists, and musicians into his royal city!
* Sparking the "most intense period" of occult activity in history.
* This museum's goal was to give us a glimpse of how an alchemist's workshop would look like back then.
* What the duck?!?
* Species preserved in formalin - a must for every home!
* You can't have a creepy home without creepy sketches of creepy stuff.
* Let's zoom in to get a better look!
* For someone who didn't care about interior design, his place sure was tidy!
* Do not feed the pet monkey!
* Alchemy is defined as the study of the transformation of matter; and a precursor to the science of chemistry.
* Historically, it's two main goals were the conversion of any metal into Gold (then the most valuable item a man could have)
* And the formulation of the Fountain of Youth - so one could stay young, forever!
* The more diverse the ingredient list, the more legit the alchemist you are!
* Charming!
* What a man can accomplish without today's distractions (social media, ipads, macbooks, etc)
* I'd like a few shots of the mysterious blue liquid, por favor!
