When All The Tourists Have Gone Away
...Venice becomes eerily beautiful!
* People like to joke that Venice is one giant tourist trap!
* That there are only tourists, and those working in the tourist trade!
* But somehow everything in the city looks more elegant when only the residents remain.
* When you don't have to compete with anyone for awesome shots of all the sights, including the empty Gondolas (Click here to read all about our Gondola adventure)
* And the vibe crawls to a much more chill pace.
* Giving us time to enjoy normally hectic areas like the Rialto Bridge.
* Empty squares lead to empty bridges, which lead to empty squares.
* Until you get to landmarks that also seem to change personas as the moon rises.
* Such as, the Basilica of St. Mark standing resolute.
* While protecting almost two thousand years of Christian relics, including one actual writer of the Bible. (Click here to read about the Basilica and all its amazing relics)
* To this view of the Piazza San Marco, which served as the center of this once all-powerful empire in the crux of Europa and Asia. (Click here to read all about the Piazza San Marco)
* To the Doge's Palace, which for a whole millennia held the destiny of millions in its hand. (Click here to read all about the Palazzo Ducale)
* There is no end to the wonders that are here for the taking.
* So we end the last night of our European honeymoon.
* Walking along streets with shoppes full of exotic wares.
* Meeting hounds who navigate these islands with ease.
* Staring across Bridges of Sighs, which live up to iconic names.
* Through cafes and restaurants that finally get to rest; ready for what the next day has to offer.
* And across the sea, to structures with their own history, character, and soul.
* Which perfectly wraps up our month-long journey, taking three years to write.
* Three years feeling grateful for all these incredible memories.
* So here's an hour full of Vivaldi.
* A whole lot of love.
* And the best gelato ever (Crema del Doge!) to end this honeymoon tale.
